Friends of the Roseraie du Val-de-Marne Association gives rose enthusiasts the chance to get together.
The CCVS has labelled the Roseraie du Val-de-Marne a national specialist plant collection for the Rosa species. The Friends’ Association seeks to promote and preserve the rose varieties grown by the Roseraie, tracing the flower’s history from wild varieties to contemporary cultivated varieties.
Created in 1990, Friends of the Roseraie du Val-de-Marne now has over 400 members, 70% of whom come from the Île-de-France, 25% from other regions and 5% from abroad. Indeed, the association’s passion for roses links it to rose societies in other countries such as England, Germany and Italy.
In the winter, the association puts on a series of practical lessons for its members on how to plant, prune and look after roses and more generally on everything to do with this species.
The association also takes part in gardening events, such as the one in Courson in the spring and autumn. Lastly, it organises public lectures on the rose twice a year, presented by specialists.
